Selecting Multiple Items in a List
Sometimes you may want to perform the same action or operation on multiple items in a list at the same time. You may do this by selecting either a continuous sequence of items or by selecting individual items from throughout the list.
To select a continuous sequence of items:
- 1. Click on the first item in the sequence you want to select.
- 2. Press and hold the SHIFT key.
- 3. Click on the last item in the sequence you want to select. All items in the list from the first all the way through the last are now selected and appear highlighted. Whatever action you perform now will be applied to all selected items.
Notes:
- You may instead select the sequence from last to first item.
- To deselect the list, click on a single item in the list or elsewhere in the window.
To select a discontinuous group of items:
- 1. Press and hold the CTRL key.
- 2. Click on each item you want to select in the list, in any order, whether adjacent to or apart from other selected items. Whatever action you perform now will be applied to all selected items.
- Note To deselect an item, click on the item again (while still pressing the CTRL key).
